Jesus Take the Wheel

On July 4th after a rocking good party, Jesus Christ was arrested by local police and charged with numerous offenses. Jesus was found driving Carrie Underwood around in a 4 x 4 Dodge Ram as she was hanging out the window screaming 'Jesus Take the Wheel!'.   Jesus thinking it was a prayer to answer appeared and was found in the drivers seat by police.

The officers at the scene described Jesus getting behind the wheel with no insurance, no license and no state identification card as well as operating a moving vehicle.  Due to such strict traffic laws in the state, Jesus was remanded into custody with 10 million dollars bail pending positive identification.  FBI researchers have yet to find any physical evidence for the now illegal alien and has called Immigration to come pick up and deport Jesus.  The convicted civil rights activist had been put on a government watch list by Roman Centurions centuries ago.    Israel however is refusing to allow repatriation as they have no record of his birth and claim he has been on the terrorist watch list of Israel since an alleged temple incident as well as several riots caused by his followers.

A public defender has been appointed for the convict given he is penniless and has no known relatives within the vicinity.  Pope Francis Esq, came through the region on a tour asked Judge Mohamed for a continuance until the Second Coming.  The Judge promptly refused to hear anything from the Pope who has been known to be a left leaning liberal and a friend of the so called Christ citing conflict of interests of the defender and the defendant.

Hillary Clinton Comes out as BDSM Rope Girl

In an epic display of fetish/kink BDSM practices Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton has apparently instructed her security team to 'Rope Em In' at a New Hampshire  Fourth of July parade.  Reporters became stunned as security representatives quickly and accurately began encircling the herd and slowly migrated the reporters to a new feeding coral.

It has become more and more apparent  that Candidate Clinton desires to woo the BDSM/kink/fetish voters of the country and that the rope trick was the first way to signal kink lovers everywhere of the impending tie up session planned for her coming out party.

It's the first time a Presidential Candidate has used what has widely been viewed as a New York City Police Department sexual fetish method to control free speech and more importantly those unruly reporters.

Getting tied up in knots, the GOP has immediately jumped on the situation claiming that Hillary is completely and unfairly seeking the fetish voters and was sending a secret message to the far left leaning underground groups.

GOP Chairpersons have whispered behind the scenes about the odd practice and how truly appalling it was that a Presidential Candidate would not be upfront about her fetishes and that she should truly be ashamed of her actions in  such a public venue.

The Secret Service have stated that they had been actively investigating a bordello in South America and knew nothing of the plans previously to the agents working the ropes.

Wonder what Hillary is going to whip up in the future.

You Won't Believe What Chris Christie Did Now!

In an epic wave to the far Left Wing Radicals, Governator and Republican Presidential Clown Candidate Chris Christie has done it again.  This time instead of hugging, a black LIBERAL President (GASP!) right after a hurricane, Gov. Christie has instead told the Fundamentalist Republicans the following:

“I think for folks who are in the government world, they kind of have to do their job, whether you agree with the law or you don’t,” 

That's right all you objecting Right Wing Clerks- the Governator has spoken and is demanding that you do...... uhmm. uhmm... Your JOB!  The startling statement has gone viral on internet channels in the dark web and has caused opposition leaders to declare that the Gov. is not a viable candidate for President given such a radical view of what people should do at work.

The radical notion of separating church activities and views from publicly tax funded jobs has appalled his Conservative base so badly that many are calling for Gov. Christie to be IMMEDIATELY IMPEACHED FROM CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!  A petition is now underway to ask for a special prosecutor from Washington DC of all places to immediately investigate such a statement.

Can you believe it!  I couldn't either....

Sharks Terrified at New 'Anti-Eat' NC Legislation

Sharks terrified at new 'anti-eat' legislation being discussed by the North Carolina Political figures have called for a public "Feed In" around North Carolina Waters.

After 7 reasonable attempts at feedings in their ocean environment, sharks have definitively stated that 'all food must be treated equally among sea animals if you venture into the water'.  The frightening aspect of a Right Wing Legislature trying to curb the necessary feeding ground for millions of years of creationism has sparked an outrage among the fish within the North Carolina coast.

Elected Chairman of the Sharks Pearly Whitetooth declared "It is fabricated that we eat everything we see and that humans taste like chicken!  Humans are one of the most filthy organisms in the ocean and we only take a select few that crawl within our feeding grounds!"

Warnings have been posted on the beach advertising the Feed In yet beach goers still claim to own the water.  As Tid-Bit Morresel said "These beaches have been swam at for decades!  Who do them there sharks think they are! Jesus swam at this very beach and they left HIM alone!"

Confusion still lingers if the the bill will make it past the governors office for a veto threat.

Superfund Sites in New Jersey Clearly Causing Issues with Public Figures

As Superfund Cleanup sites around New Jersey continue to be ignored or fines paid off (the politicians, not the actual fines owed) in an epic short sighted way (such as the Exxon facility in Linden, New Jersey), a recent study published by The Center for Chemical Contamination in Brain Chemistry of Mentally Degenerate Politicians (aka CFCCBCMDP), released a report on two political leaders from New Jersey that are showing epic brain cell disruptions in dramatically public ways.

With the addition of Chris Christie (born at the Newark Superfund area) and Antonin Scalia (born at the Trenton multiple Superfund sites) who have given profoundly gibberished public statements over the past five days, the displayed signs of such chemical contamination has alarmed scientists.

CFCCBCMDP Chief Scientist O'man Sariously stated that the effects of the chemical poisoning apparently can morph to the point where the individuals become super narcissists and incapable of rational and reasonable thought.  The new disease classification has been coined the Scalia-Christie Delusional God Poisoning Syndrome.

Bring in the Clowns - Another Clown for President Arrives

Today in an epic move that stunned the nation, the Republican Party had another large clown step up for a performance in the three ring circus of Republican Presidential impossibilities.  Following directly after Donald Trump (the Rug Master),  Chris Christie (the Rage Master) stepped into the ring to see how many abhorrent articles he could elicit from the press while telling voters to "Shut up!  It's MY time in the Ring!".

The unpopular, narcissistic candidate of the little known political crime state of New Jersey prematurely ejaculated on the telephone telling reporters he was going to come out of the closet into the three rings while the song Send in the Clowns played across the entire earth by a satellite that he contracted as part of his New Jersey Transportation Budget.

As part of his announcement, Gov. Christie shut down all the major bridges out of New Jersey in order that voters could not leave the state during his announcement.

Known as the Garden State, the manure required to fertilize this campaign has gone to epic proportions and cost.  When Acme Fertilizer and Bull was contacted, the owner P. Profusely said "I have never shipped that much bull to any other political figure in my life!  They wanted me to give my steers ex-lax to provide a different finished product.  I just couldn't do that to my cattle."

Sadly, the oxygen that has been depleted from the region due to this blow hard and self proclaimed candidate has caused an Air Quality Warning to be issued for the entire region by the US Weather Service.

Some days, you just have to say 'Your Welcome' even though 'Thank You' was never expressed for the deep equality work accomplished, for the time expended as an advocate, the impacts and education that happened with literally millions of people, for the personal financial contributions and sacrifices made on the behalf of equality for LGBTQ people.

Allison Woolbert Accepts New Deputy Division Manager Position with the NSA

Allison Woolbert just accepted a fantastic position as Deputy Division Manager with the National Security Agency working within the Counter Intelligence Cyber-Warfare Unit.   This such a huge opportunity to really do what I enjoy doing!

Admiral Michael Rogers stated "We are looking forward to working with Ms. Woolbert given her skills and abilities to detect anomalies.  We are expecting Ms. Woolbert to be a great asset to this nation in preventing further cyber attacks and in helping bring about change to our existing security structures."

The six figure  salary is finally going to make a huge difference in my life!  After such a harsh couple of years, it appears I'll be the first ever Deputy with my skill set, gender, sexual orientation and personality who can make a real impact in the way the US Counterintelligence units do business!  The openness shown by the Admiral to change and providing a transparency level unheard of before at NSA is truly going to be wonderful and I can't wait!

It's amazing in that the NSA is working towards such reasonable goals as transparency and protection at the same time.

Allison Woolberts' Growing List of things to Respond to a Telemarketer

We all know that telemarketers can flat ass be annoying.  From calling and disrupting those important decisions (like wine or whiskey), or causing us to consider a product that we certainly don't want to begin with to asking us whether we like a political figure which NOBODY likes!  AGHHHHH!!!

So, this is the start of some canned things I've actually done or considered doing.  No need to give credit to Allison Woolbert if you want to use them.  Just remember- there are things you probably will get a knock on your door from the police if you freak them out to much.  

Also remember the goal- How quickly can you get a telemarketer to quit the job.  The faster they will end their employment, the harder it is for call centers like it to keep going.  So here is Allison Woolbert's list of humorous responses:

1.  "Don't you listen to national news! What is wrong with your company- She was killed last night by that crazy boyfriend!"

2.  "I'm sorry, she's over at Ancora Mental Health Facility. She went after a telemarketer last week with a shotgun"

3. "Hang on. "Put that down INSERT NAME HERE. Put it down! NO NO! STOP! (slam telephone book or large book on table... hang up) 

4. A wide moment of silence when you tell the tel-marketer on the other end of the phone that the person they want to talk to was killed by an alligator in Florida and that somebody Youtube'd it with a broken voice.

The second longer moment of silence when you ask them after they stutter something else if they are totally insensitive to the loss of a dearly loved family member.

5. Cost them major time such as on hold, the pick it back up, on hold again, pick it back up, on hold a third time and tell them that they need to call back exactly at 1:05 pm EST

Yep- so there are a few incentives and thoughts.  More to come as I get them...

Allison Woolbert never did like flying.  It's something that just simply doesn't make her a happy person watching the ground disappear out from under her while she realizes she is totally powerless and that there isn't a parachute.

I remember flying in some puddle jumper out of an airport once.  Sheer hold onto my seat and hope the plane doesn't drop was my wish for the day.  Yep- I joined the Air Force and hated to fly.  What a concept.

Matsapha, Swaziland has an airport.  It has a single carrier that does five flights a day.  Take a look here at the Arrivals gate:

I remember seeing things like this in the movies and in photo's during the 60's.  Yes, this was built in the 60's.  The treated medal doorways with a tinish type of roof.  At least the tower looks fairly modern and appears to be in good maintenance.  That means  safer travel right???!?!?

The weather at Matsapha has been somewhat warm compared to the New Jersey temperatures.  (Allison balances in her hand the 80 degrees at Matsapha compared to the ice in New Jersey).  Ok, the temperatures at the airport are just fine with me.  Coming from Tucson Arizona 88 degrees is just a cake walk on a fun day although the 62% humidity seems a little high compared to Tucson's ZERO DEGREE HUMIDITY (but it's DRY heat!) !

So, what does Allison Woolbert think of all this?  You might wonder what in the world would be in Swaziland and a why a stop at this airport.  An airport proudly says the following:

"This operation accounts for a majority of the 70,000 passengers that pass through Matsapha International Airport each year. In addition to the Swaziland Airlink, there are a number of general aviation activities at Matsapha International Airport. These include the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force's Air Wing." 

I cannot imagine 70K passengers coming through the airport. It just seems like a lot of people to me.  I think that works out to 7 stadiums full at Shea Stadium.  Not sure though

So let's talk about the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force's Air Wing-

ok, so this is where it stands- I'm not going to talk about it.  To be honest, I just don't know enough about it to sit and discuss the Swaziland Air Force.  It seems like a strange looking plane to me though and I wonder what it really does.

So- where to next you might ask and why this airport...  Questions abound!

Some websites just need rework. Take for instance the http://www.gov.sz/ website.   

Business opportunities abound in Swaziland.  The systems are somewhat outdated and the main page simply isn't working well (or at all!).  The Prime Minister cannot be found and I'm certain it is of serious concern to the government without a web presence.  

I find that programming for small and growing places can be a profitable and challenging job.  At the same time, I see that there are places in need of increasing their visibility on the planet and bettering their people I try to see what I can do about it.  Working on old websites and technologies can also be a challenge in that the systems sometimes cannot be changed due to antiquated and irrelevant code.  

Allison Woolbert can certainly begin unraveling the details of this sort of site and provide a proper website coupled with training the IT department on new methodology for hosting and managing websites. 

I wonder how much the weather is affecting these servers and systems?  Is it the dust, the weather or the infrastructure?  Simply speaking, this can be a complete rework with a win-win situation for all of us concerned!  Just think, Allison Woolbert could create  Swazilanda fantastic government infrastructure & system that can fully demonstrate how up and coming they are!

Some places are just more challenging than others to get technology working properly in.  I figure that if properly created, the system, the software and the country could benefit entirely from a skills from a professional computer person!

What a place to visit- the great Mbabane, Swaziland!

Mbabane, Swaziland weather:  It certainly seems that heat isn't something most people consider but when you talk about Africa, that can be a different story.  Although, Mbabane, Swaziland seems to have a completely different kind of weather.  Three days of rains appear to be coming this week! .
 Event the BBC has a weather forecast for Mbabane.

Site Seeing- Allison could enjoy the Royal Swazi Spa over on Dr Sishayi and Gwamile Street. Maybe that is what needs to be done first in a site seeing venture.  Tripadvisor.com has some awesome ideas of where to go!

Language:  Even words in Swahili can be difficult to learn but doable.  I figure with multiple computer languages and Google Translate a person (Like Allison Woolbert) with some base language concepts can learn quite a bit!

Allison Woolbert: Planning Her Tiny House - Part 1

So what would it take to be in the zoning code to make a Tiny House in New Jersey-

Let’s start with some of the basic info from the NJ Uniform Construction Codes and consider that for the most part, it might be able to be done and in code. 

A few assumptions:

1.     Let’s assume this house is for TWO (2) total people to stay there. 

2.     Let’s also assume that it doesn’t have to be portable but can be on a fixed foundation.

§ 5:28-1.11 Use and occupancy of space

 (a) Every dwelling unit shall contain at least 150 square feet of floor space for the first occupant

thereof and at least 100 additional square feet of floor space for every additional occupant thereof, the floor space to be calculated on the base of total habitable room area.

(b) Every room occupied for sleeping purposes by one occupant shall contain at least 70 square

feet of floor space, and every room occupied for sleeping purposes by more than one occupant shall contain at least 50 square feet of floor space for each occupant thereof.

(c) At least one-half of the floor area of every habitable room shall have a ceiling height of at least

seven feet. The floor area of that part of any room where the ceiling is less than five feet shall not be considered as part of the floor area in computing the total floor area in the room for the purpose of determining the maximum permissible occupancy thereof.

So here is the basic square footage that would be required:

Bedroom:  For two people a bedroom would require a minimum square feet of 120 square feet. 

Common areas:  For total habitable rooms 250 square feet at a minimum of floor space would be required. 

So for the first round of thoughts on this- basically you would need a bedroom that is about 10 x 12 and an area as a minimum of 25 x 10 for the overall internal tiny house in total.  Not so tiny, but not totally incapable of being mapped out if you consider the top bedroom of 120 sq ft part of the (a) requirement of the 250.  So I am now pondering all of these little twists and turns on making a tiny little Allison Woolbert house J

Next considerations for my tiny house- a bathroom and kitchen and how to make that totally awesome tiny house computer room!

 Allison Woolbert has done many tasks of journey work for most of her  life. Her father trained her in carpentry, electrical and plumbing as well as an assortment of other building and maintenance skills and opportunities as she grew up.

Allison Denise Woolbert- Friends in the Making

On December 28, 2014, a 17 year old stepped, with deliberation, on to the path of a tractor-trailer on a highway in Ohio.

RIP Leelah Alcorn.

Her suicide note painfully cried out  "My death needs to mean something...Fix society. Please".

Does this small reminder of a young person's desperation speak to your heart? Do you feel her 

agony? Do you mourn her loss?

Leelah was a transgender individual. A person  who evidentially felt so loathed and was so disparaged by her fellow human beings that she chose to take her own life in a most horrific manner.

This communication, however, has to do with the living...namely a human being by the name of Allison Denise Woolbert.

I've enjoyed the pleasure of her company on only one occasion...and I believe it takes a bit more than a chicken dinner and a cup of coffee to call someone a "friend"....but there is promise there. We simply have to spend more time, share more thoughts and feelings; get to know each other better....and I do believe she will slide very smoothly in to the "friend" category.

She has an honest, straightforward and respectful approach. She is intelligent, humorous and seems to be a good person in all senses of the word.

It was a pleasure to be in her company and I look forward to the next time when we get to know each other a bit better.

In the meantime, those with small brains and big mouths are asked to expand the former and shut the latter.

Enact Leelah's Law Petition breaks 100K - Written by Allison Woolbert

On January 3rd this year, Allison Woolbert wrote a petition and posted it on the whitehouse.gov site.  It was a petition that called for the President to respond and end the so called 'conversion therapy' against our youth.   

Today, in less than one month, 100,000 people have agreed and asked President Obama to end 'conversion therapy'.  Thank you goes out to every single signer and any person who believes we should stop the hate towards transgender people in this country.  

When Allison Woolbert wrote the Whitehouse.gov petition, she had written the week  prior the petition at Change.org that hit over 300,000 signatures in just ten days.  Change.org reported it was the fastest growing petition of 2014.  Frankly I wish Leelah was alive and that I never had to write it.

I believe Leelah's death should not be forgotten.  I believe that there are countless others that should never be forgotten.   

On Sunday, December 27, 2014, Leelah Alcorn a 17 year old transgender youth wrote a suicide note (NEW LINK for note- http://i.imgur.com/6cZjm4P.png) ;, posted it on Tumblr and then walked out to a highway and out in front of a semi-truck tragically ending her life.  In her last post, Leelah explained how her parents had forced her to attend conversion therapy, pulled her out of school and isolated her in an attempt to change her gender identity.  One of the last things Leelah wrote is as follows: 

"My death needs to be counted in the number of transgender people who commit suicide this year. I want someone to look at that number and say “that’s fucked up” and fix it. Fix society. Please.“ -Leelah Alcorn

An Amazing Woman - Allison Woolbert by Jackie R.

I met this amazing woman Allison Woobert a little over 6 years ago, she was still just starting to transition at the time. I saw and heard the pain in her life and my heart went out to her.  She very quickly became a dear friend and as time went on and I got to know this person who had come into my life.  I was in awe of the size of her heart. From the very start, she wanted to help others!! Here she was, her life falling apart around her and who was she thinking about; NOT herself, but of others like her and she did NOT want them to suffer as she was, and she swore she would do something to help them.. She has made it a point to fight (using words and education) any person or group who threatened transgender people. Male or female, to her it makes no difference, we are people to her, who deserve to be able live a happy content life without being in fear or pain. 

In time the idea that our community had so many suicides and we were being beaten and murdered at such an alarming rate, higher than genetic women or men, really upset her!! She was at her wits end to bring that to the eyes of the world and put a stop to it..  She never missed a Day of Remembrance Ceremony, she was often a key speaker. I have never seen her speak at one of these ceremonies the she did not have tears running down her face... it breaks her heart. Unlike others who give lip service, she gives her heart!! 

It took her a while, but she started a group called Trans* Violence Tracking Portal (TVTP) to help find cases of murdered Trans men and women that the police had let just drop because no one seemed to care  and it was so very successful.  It has help reopen and solve several other wise forgotten cases and justice has been done!. She has given up so much of her time AND money to do this kind work, not because Allison Woolbert had to, but because she really cares with all her heart!!!

But this has not come at a price. She has gotten the attention of those who HATE Transgender people for whatever reason and who would want us to just go away and die and THEY have attacked this wonderful lady and tried to destroy NOT only her work, but her legacy. They have told lies and slanderous stories in order to cast doubt on her honesty and motives. THEY are the ones who are of black heart and would do us harm, NOT Allison, she labored for us every day and has asked for NOTHING  and I see people who had exclaimed friendship turn on her and take the haters side in an instant forgetting that it was SHE who had done the work, SHE who had sacrificed, NOT them. 

She had fought for them day in and day out... never stopping always there, and how have they repaid her?? By attacking her because of hateful stories about her PAST.. She is NOT the person she was all those years ago!! NO ONE is. We have all changed, and yet they judge her on a past long gone and irrelevant. 

She got the petition for Leelah’s Law up and signed and sent to the President to stop the so called conversion therapy of trans children. Today one petition has over 300K who have signed it and the Whitehouse.gov site has almost 100K today. 

The transgender community will sink once again into the tar pit of hate, cowardice and uncaring, as before. Just like the Bible wavers and Homophobes want for transgender people to be ignored and allowed to be exterminated like before with NO justice.  

It breaks my heart that Allison Woolbert has given so much and helped so many and now they turn their backs and jump on the hater’s band wagon. This is why transgender people will NEVER be free to live our lives.. WE are our own worst enemy NOT Allison. She is our Joan of  Arc and like Joan, she has been cast off and left to die no longer seen as the hero she is. This is why others will not stand up and speak! The cowards are NOT trust worthy and will not stand with Allison Woolbert when times get hard, you scatter or pick up a rock yourself. 

This community, and I use that word very loosely, is a disgrace and I am proud to know Allison Woolbert and will stand not behind, but beside her for as long as she wants me there. she is MY hero!! and she deserves better than cowards!

My Friend Allison Woolbert - Allison & Amethyst

I first met Allison Woolbert at a course we were both taking on Elements. The course was lead by two people that I have taken courses from before and had become friends with as well. Allison had graciously offered her home for this series of classes. Several of us met in Allison’s living room once a week. We were offered refreshments and had time for swapping stories and conversation after class. I guess I would call Allison’s home quaint, homey and a bit rustic. I felt very comfortable in Allison house. Besides learning the course material and loving the instructors I made two new friends Allison and Debbie.

Although I’m not very good at making new friends due in part to my crazy

work schedule (and other issues that remain from childhood experiences) Allison became a new friend. Allison and I saw each other at some  Circles  in Princeton. We tended to sit next to each other and chat. Another time we were sitting together was at a marriage ceremony at the church. Allison had been invited to participate in both the ceremony and the reception. Her outfit was lovely but I was eyeing the Amethyst Jewelry. Not only did I admired the jewelry but mentioned that I was going to an affair and looking for some purple jewelry to accessorize my outfit and Allison actually offered to let me borrow hers …even though at that point we had only know each other for a couple of months! I always think of Allison Woolbert and Amethyst together as I think of the purple stone alleviating negativity! This was even before I learned how much Allison has dedicated her time, energy, skills…her life….to alleviating so much of the negativity that others are faced with on a daily basis.

Then we became friends on Facebook and for quite a while Allison and I would instant message each other in the mornings. I would be at my desk having my breakfast and morning coffee and be chatting with Allison. Allison Woolbert and I always found something to discuss and found more and more that we are very simpatico. Then our schedules changed so our chatting was a bit more sporadic. I was just learning about the Transgender Violence Tracking project Allison created which has become an international tool for people and more recently the Leelah’s Law to be passed in the USA. This is some of Allison’s work (all volunteer) to save people from suffering, suicide and murder. If more of us could put even a tiny bit of our time into the type of work Allison Woolbert does, imagine what a better world we could have to live and thrive in!

My only regrets are missing Allison’s parties which I was invited to but did not attend (both the costume party and Birthday bash). Also that we have lived fairly close and have not gotten together more often and now Allison Woolbert is moving away. I’m sure we will remain cyber friends and will have to send you virtual hugs and kisses and wish you well form afar.

Meeting Biff- oh and Allison Woolbert

A friend of mine helped me out a while back and decided to write a small remembrance of the time we met.

Biff came into my life numerous years ago. His breed and demeanor was quiet and still, thus enabling him to assist Allison Woolbert in her adventures in new hope, pa.  She had a few days of recoup in a b&b, and frankly, really should have brought more snacks for this venture.

But Biff endured a lack of snacks, which from a dogs perspective, is a horrible offense. Biff endured.

I helped Biff get settled in Allison Woolberts room, and have kept an eye on him ever since.

He dealt with her when she set up hella tech in her house, set up a non profit, but mostly watched a lot of movies.

In my memoirs on the good friends I have met, let me highlight Allison Woolbert, I am very active in the Unitarian Universalist Church, as I have already shown. We have a national initiative in our church called "Standing on the Side of Love" and she is a frequent contributor. I was delighted to also read in one of her frequent articles that she was a transgender community activist, and it was a natural consequence that I would contact her. We began a social network friendship and because of similar interests and a similarity of slightly off center humor, we became Facebook friends. Later she would visit New Orleans and my partner and I had the please to take Ms. Woolbert on a tour, which was a great-time-had-by-all event. She self defines herself as "Allison Woolbert - Trans* Feminist, Bisexual, Polyamorous, Writer, Programmer, Advocate & More.." So I place here a partial excerpt from her bio:

"Allison Woolbert is the CEO of Phoenix Consultants Group, an expert national software development firm, founder of the Transgender Violence Tracking Portal. Meeting Allison Woolbert - A Wonderful Gift by Pete Knox

I first met Allison Denise Woolbert at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Southern New Jersey in 2008, only, at the time, she said, she sometimes went by the name 'Bud', my nickname for her. However, on that day, she was 'Allison.'

I had never known anyone who was transgender or wanted to transition, and, frankly, I was fascinated. One of my very best friends was gay and, I had learned a lot from her about the trials and tribulations of being a lesbian; I knew, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that homosexuality is anything BUT a “choice.” But this? I knew nothing and strove to understand.

Allison and I became fast friends: as Bud, she was an extraordinary woodworker – something I wanted to learn more about (I would give anything to have HALF of the knowledge she has in her head about woodworking!) I had the unique opportunity to follow her through her transition, both physically and mentally.

Her determination and devotion intrigued me the most; the stories of her painful youth, broke my heart and made me think, if she were my child, how would I have reacted? Allison Woolbert forced me to face what might have been uncomfortable for some people, except that her enthusiasm, as she moved forward in her transition and her sheer joy as she progressed, told me there was no better choice for her. She made it look, and seem, so natural.

I literally watched her develop from larvae, to pupae, to chrysalis and, finally, into an extraordinarily beautiful butterfly, first, through hormones, then through each and every surgery and through the process of becoming the woman that was always inside of her. And, she faced every step of the way with confidence and heroism; it was abundantly clear transitioning was exactly right.

In the end, I realized that Allison had been a true woman her entire life; that nature DOES make mistakes sometimes; that we, as human beings, were given the technology to correct those mistakes; and, when necessary, we not only should but we must.
